What is a compound exercise?

Compound exercises are multi joint exercises. Compound exercises use more than one joint and more than one muscle group simultaneously.

What do compound exercises look like in a training program?

Compound lifts are the meat and potatoes of any good training program. These are our main, heavy lifts. Because these exercises use multiple muscle groups, they are an efficient way to train, giving you the most bang for your buck.
