Static Stretching

What is static stretching?

Static stretching involves stretching by holding the stretch position for a specified amount of time. Static stretching is great as a post-workout cooldown or as an active recovery option on rest days. It can also be used as a part of PAILS/RAILS where we pair static stretching with muscular contractions to build strength through greater ranges of motion and improve mobility.

How long should I hold a static stretch for?

30 seconds to two minutes.
