As Many Rounds as Possible (AMRAP)

What is an AMRAP?

AMRAP stands for as many rounds as possible. Usually, AMRAPs are used to complete the maximum amount of work in a limited time. Commonly, we will see a limit of 6-12 mins and a circuit of 2-5 exercises. Your goal is to get through as many rounds of those exercises as possible.

How Are AMRAPS used in a training program?

AMRAP is a common timing format for group classes, and has been popularized by CrossFit. In a strength training program, we reserve AMRAPS for core, specific insufficient rest blocks, or burnouts at the end of a workout. We use them as a tool in our toolbox, not a permanent staple.
